2022 is all about building rituals. Rituals are ways to show care to ourselves and increase our wellness. There’s nothing quite like a balanced hair ritual when it comes to self-care. Balance is the keyword here, and everyone’s routine looks different. Some love a high-maintenance ritual, while others need brief moments of self-care on a tight schedule. If you don’t know where to begin, here’s what a week looks like for my hair.
My name is Eva, I'm an OLAPLEX lover and have been with the company since day one. I write the OLAPLEX blog to help people understand how to live their healthiest hair lives and understand the product better. I think there’s confusion with hair and how often it can really be treated. The reality is, haircare is just like skincare. In fact, our hair and skin are made of the same protein. Just as you have a morning and evening skincare routine, your hair also thrives on daily love. Luckily, with OLAPLEX, there’s no such thing as ‘overusing’ the products. You just have to determine the right quantity of product to use depending on your hair type. If your hair is fine and weighs down easily, use less product. If your hair is more coarse, most likely, you will need more.
I make time once weekly for a Nº.0 + Nº.3 Intensive Bond Building Treatment along with a Nº.8 mask. I do these on separate days, but you’re welcome to double down! Consider Nº.0 a primer to the Nº.3 Hair Perfector treatment. The two create the most intense at-home bond-building treatment available. It’s a sister treatment to our concentrated salon Stand-Alone Treatment ™. This rebuilds my hair by re-linking the broken bonds together again permanently or until they break again from damage.
Sometimes I do back-to-back treatments, but lately, I split them up during the week. At another time in the week, I will put the Nº.8 Bond Intense Moisture bask from a bond-building moisture treatment to quench my dry hair. This sits for ten minutes; then, I’m done treating until the following week. Think of these two treatments like sheet masks—it’s a ritual to put them on, and afterward, the benefits are incredible!
I shampoo once weekly and co-wash every other day. With my naturally curly hair, co-washing is a great way to keep the tangles away and pump some more hydration into my hair. I shampoo with OLAPLEX Nº.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, then condition (same for my co-wash) with OLAPLEX Nº.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. This ensures every time I wash or co-wash my hair that I’m rebuilding bonds while adding moisture and or cleansing.
After every wash, I cocktail OLAPLEX Nº.6 Bond Smoother and Nº.7 Bonding Oil to style my hair. Nº.6 acts as a leave-in styling cream keeping my hair hydrated and strong, while Nº.7 adds shine, rebuilds bonds, and increases moisture. Nº.7 also protects against heat up to 450ºF for those that style thermally! I also use Nº.7 at night before bed to moisturize and rebuild my hair while I sleep.
That’s it, that’s a week in my hair, and most of it happened while I was already in the shower or sleeping. Once you find a routine that works for you, you will rarely have a bad hair day because, at its very core, it will be shiny, moisturized, and, best of all, healthy.
